The Process

Follow along as Katie has her gown made from the initial consultation to the wedding day!

Katie is welcomed into the studio where we get to know each other a bit better. I hear about her wedding plans and that she is hosting a small wedding at home and a larger reception at a later date.

She is looking for a gown that is supportive so we discuss having straps with an interesting back. Katie likes a flowing plain chiffon skirt with a train.  Drawings are done and fabrics are shown, including a stunning beaded lace we decide is perfect for the bodice.

Once a design is chosen, measurements are taken so I can draft her custom pattern. As shown in the photos below,  I have her come back in a few weeks to try on a sample cotton version of the bodice. We make sure the fit and design are correct before moving onto the actual sewing of the dress.

I then get to work sewing up the gown for the first fitting. The gown looks great  and we schedule another fitting to finalize the fit , hem and bustle. We also decide to make a coordinating long veil with lace.  At the final fitting, everything is complete and her mom is shown how to do up the gown and the bustle  for the big day!

Katie looks absolutely stunning on her wedding day.  Katie not only loved her gown but also the process of having her gown made. It is a once in a lifetime experience she will remember forever.
